Geography was tougher in Vietnam but USA mainly lost because they were not actually allowed to go into North Vietnam and conquer it so all they ever did was send teams into the jungles to hunt vietcong soldiers and then go back down into South Vietnam again. If they were actually allowed to try and seize cities in North Vietnam I am sure they could have easily done it.
