the radiation scare is a misunderstanding.
most people don't realise that if you have some tarpooling and duct tape. you can air seal the windows once they break and wait just 48 hours for the ultra death rads to go then another 2 weeks for it to basically be safe aside from ground zero. the radiation used in nukes decays very fast.

Dude you're like on some anime shit or something. Uranium, a naturally occurring element in extremely low, trace levels in the earths crust, has been oozing out for eons. We humans have adapted to it. We can only handle so much before our body begins to shut down and stop working, though. Plutonium, on the other hand, is a syntheticically created radioactive isotope made in laboratories. It does not occur naturally anywhere on earth, and when exposed to it, humans die or become violently and seriously ill, often very close to the point of death.
