We shut down massive amounts of economic activity to save baby boomers from a virus which was only deadly to them. We printed trillions of dollars to prop up their retirement accounts. We’ve had a decade of endless QE to prop up their mentally fucking insane economic collapse caused by their absolutely mentally fucking insane housing and lending policies in the 2000s. Now I’m 26 years old working as an engineer, full time, and I can’t afford to move out of my parents’ fucking house.
Not only that, now we have this insane, underreported inflation (no, it’s not a conspiracy theory, the CPI numbers way underestimate shelter inflation) that is literally pricing me and everyone my age out of the housing market.
And nobody even cares. I’m just screaming into the void. I tell my parents about my concerns, they nonchalantly say “well, just keep working hard, you’ll get there” without looking up from their iPads. I cannot fucking handle this, I should not have to stick my money into a fucking casino to get ahead. This is lunacy.
And you know what’s next? A massive recession that nobody of course can see coming. I’ll probably lose my job. The last two years and the next three combined will probably set me back 25 years, financially speaking, and not a single soul will give a fuck. Fuck boomers
