The support is there and Russia isn't really leaving any other national defense options for us, as much as some people want to pretend the only realistic deterrent at this point will be joining be NATO or joining the nu-USSR. I'm not really in favor of the proposition, but the actions Russia has taken really doesn't leave any other realistic alternatives..
We also recently had a citizen's initiate get the required 50K votes to be put in front of parliament.

Haven't you heard that Russia is a great country for minorities? Putin hates ethnic Russian nationalism and has always promoted the idea of multiethnic Russian federation that gives all the people equal rights. Minorities actually get more gibs than majority Russian areas. Standard of life is higher in Grozny than they are in Moscow because the federal government wants to keep Chechens happy.
