Yes. Overall, I'd say he did an excellent job.

Understand that as the first black President, he went in with expectations that no other president had to face. None of had to do with policy; and everything had to do with his "living up to" being the first black president.

Obama did not deliver. He botched the financial crisis response, created worse refugee waves from the ME than even Bush, and promoted divisiveness (as in when Trayvon Martin “could have been his son”). There was great hope for Obama but ultimately he was a failure, likely caused more by his arrogance than his intentions.

His worst "mistake," which he admitted, was destabilizing Libya, creating a refugee crisis, the collapse of a nation and a state which now has open slave markets. The reason I put mistake in quotes is because he attempted doing the same exact thing in Syria, by arming anti-government rebels, whose weapons went to ISIS. Thankfully Al-Assad wasn't overthrown despite that. These two actions alone place him among our very worst presidents.

50 years from now, no one will know what the Libyan political situation was, or give a shit unless it's on a test. The measure of presidents are formed in the decades after they are gone.

To be practical, all Obama had to do was to be black, and not fuck it up. We lucked out that Obama is also a very realistic and very patient man. There were no watergate or lewinsky moments for the history books to latch on to; his policies were middle of the road; and performance was about average.

His biggest job was having to be the one man representation all the time. so whether it was making a speech, visit, or breakfast meal; he had to deal with the constant "first black president to" bullshit he's dealt with his whole life.
