The Ukraine invasion was just a way for Russia to bloody new troops in combat and distract us from his real goal. If he agrees to retreat but the two independent states to the east are allowed to remain he has accomplished his goal. The real goal was keeping the two pro-Russian splinters of Ukraine, the invasion was just a distraction to give the west a way to feel like they won while losing, and if his new recruits actually beat ukraine all the better.

The reason we're bleeding Russia so effectively is we're purposefully stretching their forces long so that they're unable to deal with our well organized ambushes. Their most combat ready troops are almost gone. We've done multiple counter offensives in the Kharkiv region and Sumy, even pushing rusfags back beyond the border. But we aren't going to do major pushes while they have considerable reserves, this will come in the following weeks.
