Good morning folks, wishing you a happy St Patrick’s day. Now there are a few things I’d like to discuss in a proper fashion, as in no “ ITS THE FUCKING TAIGS” or “ ITS THE FUCKING ANGLO SCUM” it’s just not as simple as that. My first point of discussion being Divide.
1. Why is the division in ulster so blatant? Is it the same in the southern counties or are the people more levelheaded?
2.Why do native born Irish ( My grandparents in particular) refer to ulster as “England-Ireland”. Is that due to the loyalist majority or do they actually view northerners as different and not “ Irish” regardless of religion?
3. It’s inevitable a united Ireland would bring all the corporations and LGBT shit north of the border, is there any possibility in our lifetime we will see Ireland united? If so, how could it be done without the cost of living going up?
4. I’ve never met anyone who was Pro IRA or Pro UDF. Anyone from Ireland who’s moved to Canada denounces the men who fought in the troubles as terrorists. In my opinion this isn’t true, as there are no terrorists in a war. Anyone with first hand accounts of the troubles willing to enlighten a young man of the realities?
5. Irish mythology. We’ve all heard of CuChullain and the banshee, but could there be truth to it? Evil fairies that steal children, haunted Celtic graveyards, please tell me about this folklore! Everyone I try to talk to about it either laughs or gets quiet, I just want to know the truth behind the legends.

I've done very little research but I'm about to learn Irish and ancient Irish with Latin and do some reading. Blaming England is BS most Brits carry good will towards the Irish they are more brother than enemy. The Roman Catholic Church is responsible for the destruction of Irish culture, language, history and literature. But I do not hate the Christians or Catholic followers because they are just lambs. They will tell you Eire was illiterate and we had books for them to burn. It is likely that as the Romans fought the Celtics/Gauls/Gaels they changed real Irish mythology into Christian mythology. Among scholars its an unspoken truth that Christianity has Irish origins and was merely appropriated by the Romans and the Jews and contorted into the mess it is today after they were driven out of Europe back to the British Isles. Much like how "Barbarian" refers to many outsiders to the Romans, the term "Pagan" likely refers to Irish priests and druids.

1. Ulstermen are mainly lowland scots and northern englishmen who were either part of anglo-saxon bernacia or the vikings that came after so they tend to be germanic not celtic like most irish - although there are plenty of norse irish as well, and brythonic celts who aren't gaelic but brythonic.
2. The division comes from that, as well as the consequences of the glorious revolution where the dutch troops under the prince of orange tried to capture ireland for britain and got so far as the boyne river - which desu i'm on the irish side for.
3. is irrelevant, global companies will bring communist ideology to NI, ROI isn't a significant factor.
5. Irish mythology comes from a lot of different sources mainly norse and insular celtic. Before germanics arrived ireland had a political structure which literally involved lower tier kings sucking the nipples of higher tier kings so I think you can leave their belief system in the trash where it belongs, atleast the celtic stuff

I've never heard anyone refer to the north as "england-Ireland". We in the South call it the North. Or if we want to gently mock, "Norn Iron" - a phonetic spelling of the northern Ireland accent saying "Northern Ireland". The spilt up there is more religious than national if you ask me. As time goes by more and more Northern Ireland Brits realise England couldn't give a fiddlers about Northern Ireland - it seems to be more a burden to London than anything else. If Scotland could get that bitch PM and and talk seriously about leaving the union, the North might consider something similar - though it remains to be seen if that would mean reuniting with Ireland. Maybe they'll just want to be a small European country independent of the Republic.

Sounds like something you made up. I'm from Ulster and never heard such bullshit. The province of Ulster is majority Irish Catholic and only subtly different from the South. The only parts that feel a bit off to us is the north east of the province where the huns live. BTW if you don't have a Gaelic or Hiberno surname then you aren't Irish. Most Canadians who think they have Irish ancestry don't actually have any and have ancestors from Britain who lived here then went to Canada so aren't technically Irish. Check your surname and if not Gaelic or Norman then don't be claiming our heritage.

The Protestants in Northern Ireland are basically Scottish people who moved there 500 years ago and see that chunk of Ireland as their homeland (Ulster). Republicans see the whole island as theirs. Ulster wants to remain part of the UK because they would get gobbled up if they just became independent. Irish people in the Republic of Ireland and Brits in the rest of the UK don't really care in my experience and people in Northern Ireland have mixed feelings about it all.
The way it has been handled with the peace agreements was genius diplomacy so it's not really a problem anymore. People in Ulster are entitled to both UK and Irish citizenship, can live and work in both countries as long as they want or just leave the country as many do. They're also both first world countries so standard of living is mostly the same.

Wrong. There's no such thing as an Ulsterman as in a Protestant from NI. They're not native to Ulster and most people in this province are Gaelic. Northern Ireland itself is half Irish half Brit larpers. The "Brits" in Ulster aren't anymore an Ulsterman than the native Irish of the place. Calling someone an Ulsterman just means someone from the province of Ulster and isn't an identity belonging to the Prot Brits there.

I don't care if you've never heard of it or if you are from Ulster, northern irelanders came over after James Hamilton bought a shittonne of land in exchange for the celtic lord there not getting executed and a massive number of scots and northern english came over and became the dominant genetic group. In Northern ireland there is a load more groups like l2a2 for instance. Religion is irrelevant to genes.
