Yes his math is wrong and he only takes into account income tax. In the UK he probably has closer to a 45% effective tax rate. Additionally he pays 150% taxes on petrol, local taxes, and a 25% VAT on everything he buys. At the end of the day, the government takes maybe 70% of his earnings. California is also the most heavily taxed state. Compare it to Texas instead, no income tax, no capital gains tax.
