Yea ive pretty much given up every single dream and aspiration i ever had. I work what is considered a pretty prestigious govt career and still can barely make ends meet. People notice prices going up, inflation is a kind of "hidden" tax on the economy that causes a negative feedback loop. Everything costs more, and prices never keep up with inflation, so economic output (both consumption AND production) scales back. When it gets out of control, you end up with failed governments, rioting, and people going "fuck you we start over". The biggest problem, this is happening at a global scale- what happens if everyone fails at once?
By summer food prices will be a major issue. Civil unrest potential is high worldwide. Unlike the BLM riots, hungry people don't tend to listen to orders, or give a fuck about promises- They remember those who made them hungry, and string them up a lamp post.
Don't let yourself get fucked over any longer, don't let them rob you on every aspect of your work and life, read up on anlternatives that put the worker above the capital.

You should have developed some skills beyond getting a driver’s license. I got an engineering degree and I’m living large. Own a home on some land, two cars, toys, custom made furniture in the house, 401k maxed out. Yeah, life is good. You just have to put in the work.

Government job pay is kinda poor. A friend of mine makes 100k (ish) in the DC area; average for his grade. Yes he has a pretty awesome portfolio and insurance; but all of those things are "deferred benefits"; You gave up a lifetime of experiences just so you can live 5 more years crippled in an old folks home. Does that make sense?
Opportunity cost is real. You can invest your own money, and probably do as good if not a better job than whatever they're giving you. Inflation means a dollar used immediately has more value than that same dollar you have a month from now; hoarding cash is the worst thing you can do. I don't want a foosball table that will never be used, $5 gift cards to hot topic, or an "Award for presence" printed out on office paper; If you think I'm giving value you fucking pay me, simple as. Boomers who shame looking for higher pay as "salary chasers" can keep on complaining; fuck you pay me. Money has diminishing returns sure but getting to that point is half the battle.
The ugly truth about America no one will tell you is our nation is a pyramid scheme built around getting boomers to retirement. There is no plan beyond that. Boomer 401ks in jeopardy? Better borrow money to prop up the banks that fucked up. Boomer pension plans going short on funds in the next decade? Better just offshore the whole company and hope the product doesn't go to shit. Boomer owned houses losing value? Better let more trash pour in through the border and fly them around to other states.
All of this paid for with federal debt that can't be paid off for several generations and a completely crippled domestic industry that has to beg China to make shit that we invented decades ago. We're fucked but that isn't a problem for the people that have about a decade or so to live and a pile of wealth taken from everyone else. And if that isn't by design, it's through sheer greed and neglect by those in charge.
