I did find it amazing how Russia's advance only really stopped when it hit populated centers and "we need humanitarian aid corridors" came up.
You say that as if fleeing to the lands controlled by the invading army isn't obviously the worse option in normal rational circumstances. That Ukrainians choose to flee into the arms of their invader rather than try to retain the protection of their own nation's military says a lot, if true.
