The destruction of all major or significant cities and infrastructure in the western world and I assume Russia and China would cause a massive economic collapse while leaving other nations free to pursue actions that otherwise would have been unlikely such as India and Pakistan going to war and inevitably nuking each other, African nations suffering severe starvation due to the lack of fertiliser and food imports and I assume nations like Saudi Arabia would not be spared so oil exports would decrease massively.

Things would recover in a century or less.
