age of consent is a legal term for societies where fornication is allowed where the person at or above that age can have sex with another at or above that age. The age of consent should be 12 with marriage (with her father’s consent) and 14 without marriage. The age of consent was supposed to mean that someone was mentally incapable of giving sexual consent before they reached the selected age. Hence, if 14, then a 14 year old could consent to anyone else capable of giving consent. Age of consent means you won't be charged with rape, but, more often than not, your coutry/state will have some other laws that will get you in trouble anyways depending on the context.
