The end result is a carbon neutral fossil fuel source. As it scales and reduces in cost, a portion can be sequestered in the earth rather than being used as fuel.
CO2 in the atmosphere and carbonic acid in the ocean are balanced so removing it from the ocean also removes it from the atmosphere.

I remember when I was a child (I'm old), Big Gov used to try to scare us with 'The Hole in the Ozone Layer'.
that was the Climate Scam of the 1980s, unfortunately for the scammers, like 'Global Warming', it was easily debunked.
I do admire the communistic beauty of the repackaged 'Climate Change' though, you can blame any negative weather event on an imaginary Boogeyman with no need to scientifically prove your statements lol

Right now you can walk into Fred Meyer/Kroger and for $4.99 buy a pint of ice cream made using whey protein from genetically engineered yeast.
I don't think tinkering with phytoplankton to increase their metabolic rate is really that complicated, compared to Perfect Day putting cow genes in yeast and scaling up to where there is reasonably priced ice cream with microbial whey on the supermarket shelves.
