Nah, it's entirely to do with Stettin. 100% ethnic German city that was owned by """poland""" a thousand years ago. The soviets pushed for the Poles to have it to the protest of everyone, even the poles themselves, but no one fought for it so they literally removed hundreds of thousands of germans from the city just to move poor poles in.
It was done purely because Stettin wasn't really seen as a military target so it wasn't bombed as much, and also surrendered early enough not to be raped. It was a pristine german city and the soviets hated that, so they demanded it for little to no reason other than to destroy it.
It's population took over 40 years to recover and that's with modern building practices, and remains stagnant at around 400K pop, only 10K higher than it's peak during 1939.

I said a thousand years ago it was polish. The germans began to almost immediately expand after the fall of the Frankokratia with Austrasia dying once and for all. The HRE launched the northern crusades long after their colonization of pomerania. It wasn't polish for over 800 years, and the idea that 'poland' even existed to such an extent was a laughable concept considering how easily the slavs were conquered. Silesians and Prussians became fully German, Poland likely would have as well if it wasn't for the more emergent threats of the turks and mongols requiring Germany to reposition.
