People will not acknowledge that Putin's goal was not Ukraine's total annihilation or even conquering it as a whole. If that was the case, he would have carpet bombed every major city in Ukraine by now into oblivion. He had specific goals which he stated at the beginning of all this and that's what he's stuck to but people see a stagnant map of what they think progress is like and scoff.

realistically, every map looks like an absolute mess. offensives stalled and not hitting objectives, splitting and disorganized at any resistance

they appear to be widening into a front rather than defending convoys, and doing so just as the Rasputitsa begins. their spearheads are flattening against Ukrainian defense and they are attempting to leverage that lateral forcing into a circling of Kyiv ;) but that leaves an entire flank of their Belarus-staged offensive vulnerable to the most well supplied parts of Ukraine's military in the east. spreading out to encircle could turn that flank into their rear, and in that scenario they are in range of Kyiv's defenses from the front and the bulk of Ukrainian forces operating in the east.

all the anti-vehicle equipment in Ukraine right now means the spread offensive becomes ideal targets for small, fast-moving groups because pushing will require safe logistical convoys that will be more poorly defended by armor as the spearhead shifts into a front.

Russia's new approach will likely be to encircle Kyiv with artillery, which is almost incapable of responding to flanking and small, fast groups of infantry equipped with anti-vehicle munitions
