Putin's best strategy is to surprise invade the UK. The entire British army wouldn't fill the average British football stadium. Despite the challenge of reaching Britain in numbers with anything like an element of surprise, just parachuting a few thousand elite forces on British soil in the dead of night would rock the World and be plenty to surprise attack and overwhelm most military bases - there would be very little resistance from an unarmed populace. It could all be over before you woke up in the morning.
US has in the past treated Britain as an unsinkable aircraft carrier and military base during WW2 and (because Generals always make the mistake of fighting the last war) Western powers assume a World War in the theatre of Europe would afford a similar opportunity - which is why Putin would take Britain FAST. The panic and indecision of reacting militarily to a nuclear superpower would be all the window of time Putin would need. Without Britain as a jumping off point, USA is effectively barred from any meaningful troop build up in Europe - any attempt to reach France or Germany would be repelled from Putins new Atlantic fortress: Britain. Putin would effectively pincer move all of mainland Europe by taking Britain if he did it at the same time as a distracting EU nations by a massive land invasion of Europe from the East - without technically touching their land because they'd only be moving into Old Soviet territory. USA would then only be able to launch ICBMs or mass forces in Northern Africa. USA cant launch ICBMS into mainland Europe, where Russia's forces could be in days. A new nuclear standoff cold war situation between ALL of the European landmass and USA would instantly be established - Putin's Europe is now Normalised.

I get your line of thinking, but you lack an understanding of military maneuvers and operational requirements and capabilities. Russia is wholly incapable of pulling that off short of a post nuclear holocaust situation where few are left. They would get torn to shreds on approach, those unfortunate enough to make it to the ground would be chewed up and spit out with no support, indirect fire or logistics. War is not a strategy video game. The amount of men, equipment and support required to invade the UK by air and/or sea is overwhelming for first world militaries, let along a nation stretched thin and struggling to maintain an invasion in Ukraine.
