I'm onto you user.

I'm 38 and what is this about?

Sliced tubers

batatas fritas (=fried potatoes)
sometimes we add "de pacote" to differentiate from french fries

czipsy,
why are you asking?

potato chips

sjips

We used to have them, but were deemed too sharp because urban yoots in londonistan kept stabbing each other with them so now they’re banned. You can apply for a license but even with that you’re only allowed to have one every six months.

Cwips. If you’re “special” , which means you’re political.

chips

because when in my mind i'm speaking to someone in english language and try to explain that I'm eating chips (that's how they are called in germany) i always wonder if they really are called chips in english language because i remember from the iraq war 2003 that for english people there's some kind of confusion with chips and french fries

not that i'm telling that i shouldnt have that conversation in my mind with invisible people that often

Our chips used to be crinkle cut and when we first got flat ones they were Pringles so lots of people called them that. The flat ones became more popular than the crinkle cut ones and got more brands so they became just chips.
Those ones look like kettle chips.
Trust me, I'm a chip expert.

the crinkle cut ones are too thick. i like pringles and chips of that kind in general but it's basically just pulverized potato smashed together will the standard chips are pure nature in comparison

Those? Look like corn chips to me.
Here we usually call them "petiscos" (lit. snack), but the real name "salgadinho de milho".
You people don't even care to differentiate between corn and potatoes? damm.
