They had really good full-length recordings of different political events, speeches, rallies/protests, etc etc. Every other media source only gives us a segment of a soeech but they would share the whole speech. Plus, it was the biggest English channel giving international news and content.
I loved watching German or Spanish news on RT. I never bothered to see the rudsian propaganda edits or videos, but jesus the full length sometimes hours long raw uploads were a godsend for the internet.

Aus was actually the last to ban it, although I suspect it was the result of apathy and laziness.
