My personal narrative is that the Republicans rigged the election for the Democrats.
The political landscape going into the 2020 election was dire. Massive problems with no feasible solutions on the horizon.
Knowing they had little to no chance of getting the unpopular Biden into office, the Democrats decided to "heap the plate", and make grandiose promises under the assumption that they wouldn't need walk the walk. This would let them call back to their various schemes and solutions that, without the chance to be put into practice, could be narrated as infallible while Trump was obligated to manage a sinking ship. Promise the world that only needed to be delvered in hindsight,
Knowing this, the reds hatched a plan to rig the election for the blues. The perfect crime. Forcing the blues to deliver on promises they had no means to implement, to preside over a game that was already lost, they would be able to not only consolidate power by the failures of their foes, but also to sow distrust in the enemy establishment by amplifying a blatant rig that only the most schizophrenic of idiots would ever dream came from them, and so which the benefactors of the rigging would have no recourse to fight against without coming off as clowns and "betraying" their own base by handing away a won election. For this purpose in particular Trump was not in on the plan. This scenario would lead the blues to ruin their reputation while allowing the reds to wag their fingers.
It's probably bullshit but it entertains me.
