Because McDonalds Russia is a completely separate entity and registered as a corporation in Russia, and not registered as a foreign corporation, they can continue to operate since their entire corporate structure is in Russia. That includes its profits, banking, cash flow, where they source their food products, who they hire, and where they source all their equipment.
And since Putin removed all trademark restrictions, McDonalds Russia is going to continue to operate.
You're going to see and find this with multiple "American" corporations in Russia, including Google. They just won't give a shit.
This is the stupidity of Americans. Their corporate greed at finding every way possible to keep costs down is their undoing here. European companies don't do this precisely for this reason and why they're able to keep their intellectual property from falling into the wrong hands.
