Why is Ukranian Nationalism so focussed on being anti-Russian?

Probably because the Azov battalion was started and trained by the paramilitary operations wing of the CIA with the express purpose of being anti-Russian and plays into the weakening of Russia, and by extension, an attempt to stop the Russia/China/India bloc from becoming the dominant superpowers on earth.
