reddit has been warning people about duckduckgo for years

They asked for this

reminder to use startpage or yandex; only uncucked search left and yandex will probably be hard to use soon.

if startpage is the only one left i wouldn't trust that either.

someone is going to have to run their own search engine. it's not that fucking hard

well, not the best example

NWO is already here

Search engine literally run by troons for troons.

But still a useful data point. Ignore the fact that the dude is a faggot coomer posting on reddit - why would a search engine return relevant results in the one case but not in the other?

Answer seems to be that the results are manipulated. If you examined the principals behind DDG you might find that one or more of them hate fags. That would be an indication as to why they might do something like this.

How do you legally even deal with that? Thinking about it if I was going to run my own search engine; what are the consequences of a user typing in "gay porn" and my server producing trillions of results.

Obviously the server is scraping a bunch of gay porn sites. Do you really want you server scraping a bunch of gay porn sites? Especially when you start throwing in image search.

Google can't even human filter all their results. How do you do this as a small operator. It's feasible for $100/mo you could run a search engine with open source software; but there's no way you could moderate it for that amount.

How do you detect and purge illegal content without blatant censorship?

Unironically switching to yandex as search engine. DDG was jew good to be true.

Is there a way to make Yandex the default search engine for Firefox?

startpage gets results from google right? so it may improve on using google directly from a privacy perspective, but the results are still censored in whatever way google chooses to censor them.

Duckduckgo never gives me what the fuck I'm looking for. Even Google as cucked as it is gives better results. I swear you type anything in duckduckgo first 3 pages are irrelevant bullshit. I sometimes think it just gives you random shit. Yandex is the chad search engine right now. I'll use Google if im looking for straight forward directions or local businesses.

just did this. go to yandex.com. right click in firefox's search bar (not the yandex search field). at the bottom there is a green plus that says "add yanex."

Can anyone give me a DuckDuckgo alternative that is as fast as DDG? I'm not exactly the biggest fan of Russia's actions, but i don't like censorship either.

startpage (EU/Norway)
yandex (Russia)
there are no other alternatives

welcome to the modern era

thank you

startpage is supposed to be "privacy" oriented, yandex makes no privacy claims but it's russia doing the logging so nobody cares

>weinberg
come on guys you should have expected this

Thanks frens, stay comfy

startpage is good for privacy, but it still fetches from googly.

I wish there was a search engine (or extension) that would simultaneously search multiple engines and interleave the results (removing duplicates).

StartPage got bought out by ad company they're literally one of the worst choices

use brave

Yandex passes the test.

Their results still come from google, their owner has had no effect on how they work.

Qwant.com
Search.brave.com

Are 2 more alternatives I use sometimes

Great idea user. all we need is a slide deck, a way to integrate the "blockchain", and a relative with some venture capitalist connections and we're set for life

I was thinking about that too, even writing it maybe, but I've looked in to this before.

There's only 3 real search engines; everything else is just using one of the 3 search engine's api's (ddg, startpage, etc)
>Yandex
>Google
>Bing
yahoo doesn't exist either that's bing results i think now.

There's no point in hitting 10 sources that are all pulling google api results, and we know now 2/3 of those search engines are globohomo; so what's the point altogether.

There's a giant void here for another company to step in and say "we provide unpozzed search results". I'm amazed nobody is filling it. People would pay monthly at this point I think.

i did, but what other options were there? yandex is not a great choice. it's clearly terrible from a privacy and censorship perspective. but now that DDG has fallen, there is nothing left that is good from a censorship perspective, and only things like startpage are (possibly) good from a privacy perspective. Come to think of it, what I would really like now is a startpage that is a proxy for yandex rather than google. that would give you privacy, and only the censorship that the russian govt. demands (which is the lesser evil compared to direct globohomo censorship).

Start making plans to leave.

>Yandex
>Russian
For how long will we have this for?

>pic
i want to go back

the only answer is to make our own search engine.

how hard is it. looking in to it for 30 minutes and there's 10 open source products that will do this.

it's only an issue of getting a list of websites. the top 10,000 are already public on amazon or whatever, and users can submit websites to be crawled on their own. if users submit illegal websites that isn't really a problem, the search engine would have crawled that to begin with; there's filters i'm sure to nuke most of that out. and then if there's no organization with lawyers to back it just run it behind a tor .onion

Based. Whatever came of this story?

If someone who says nothing but lies gets evicts them from some platform, and you feel indignation then you should know that you are being manipulated by the devil himself
