The movie Sucker Punch is a thinly-veiled retelling of the story of the Duplessis Orphans and the CIA MKULTRA program.
Orphans in the care of the Catholic Church in Canada were declared "mentally unfit" by the Church and sold to the CIA for medical research. In Quebec this was at l'Hopital de la Misericorde and it was under the auspices of Dr Ewen Cameron. Dr Cameron is one of four physicians labelled under the MKULTRA scheme as Dr Blue, Dr Green, Dr Black and Dr White. It is speculated that Dr Green was a protegé of Mengele himself, smuggled out of Germany via Op Paperclip. Children were subjected to electro-shock therapy, sleep deprivation, drugs and various other things to try and break down the mind to rebuild it. With what was known as Monarch Programming it was theorised you could make alternate identities - such as Deltas who would be soldiers, or Betas who would be prostitutes.
In the movie, which is told on several levels, a girl is sold by her "father" who in another level becomes a "Father" i.e. Roman Catholic priest, who sells his daughter to an asylum run by "Blue" where they are used as prostitutes and also fantasise about being soldiers. One by one the useless alter-egos are killed off until the one remaining is shipped off to Wayne Indiana, which not coincidentally was a CIA HQ. The asylum the girl was sent to - Brattleboro VT - is in real life an asylum dealing with dissociative identity disorder and multiple personality disorder. The good therapist Mme Gorsky, is named for a lawyer who represented Monarch victims and who had a webpage about the history of mind control up to and including MKULTRA (now sadly deleted, but I'm sure the director read it).
