As well as sexual deviancy, i.e homsexuality, transexuality, etc. There seems to be a trend in psychology where we brand every mental disorder as something someone is born with and explanations based on childhood trauma and bad parenting are slowly becoming obsolete. Can anyone explain realistically where things such as depression, schizophrenia, and sexual deviancy arise from?
Non-pozzed view of mental disorders

Jungian psychology?
No mental illness really exists. They're all just medicalised labels used to delegitimise and oppress those thoughts and behaviours which society refuses to accept are well within the scope of human experience.
Nonphysical, parasitic entities have plagued this planet for many, many years. They have been given many names; “ego”, “critical inner voice”, “archon”, “mind flyer”, etc.
They breed ignorance and unenlightenment so as to ensure there is a limitless supply of their sustenance, negative energy.
The term "neurotypical" is a very relevant and pertinent term. A "mental disorder" has a lot to do just with the current and transitory norms and culture of society. This isn't some crazy opinion, this is what they teach you in an abnormal psych class. I got my degree in psych and this is just the definitive nature of what a "mental disorder" is.
Basically, it's actually a "mental disorder". There is no objective "mental illness". Everything we judge as "mental illness" is subjective and based on culture and the preferences of the masses.
I agree but the symptoms of mental disorders really exist, psychologists just give them a category in order to ignore all these symptoms and make them seem normal. So how do the symptoms of transsexuality arise for instance. What specific childhood trauma caused a person mind to get warped to this extent? And why do other instances of trauma lead to different disorders?
My mental illness is real you mong. Whoever thinks schizophrenics are making up their illness should be pinned down and force fed meth until they reach psychosis so they can feel a fraction of what its like to have schizophrenia. Ive not been sectioned twice for attention
So Schizophrenics and Bipolar people aren't batshit insane and completely functional, correct?
Being still is not enough and being still over too long a time leads to stagnation and stagnation leads to death.
I agree the symptoms exist but psychologists ignore what actually happens in the minds of individuals that develop disorders. How does a neurotypical psyche develop into one with mental illness?

I take my meds because they are the only thing that stops me having severe delusions and auditory and visual hallucinations. Im high functioning but when im really ill im probably one of the worst. Even with meds i still believe things such as people can read my mind and that im being watched but its 1 billion times better than the severity of the alternative.
tl;dr we can be somewhat functional
>completely functional
Obviously not, but productivity isn't a valid measure of illness.
>My mental illness is real you mong.
If it was, you'd be able to put forward a better argument than just calling me a mong.
>Whoever thinks schizophrenics are making up their illness
Said nothing of the sort.
Schizophrenia is real. You are not an expert on mental illness you fucking idiot. I dont need to prove im mentally ill to you and i wish i wasnt, it exists.
>Can anyone explain realistically where things such as depression, schizophrenia, and sexual deviancy arise from?
All caused by trauma, particularly childhood (sexual) abuse, terrible parenting, ...
But what about all the disorders that are caused by simple explanations. If a soldier is captured in war and beaten everyday for a year he may come out with severe mental illness.
IDK I don't remember anyone ever talking about that other than like trauma, physical brain damage, genetic triggers, nutritional disorders and physical disease.
Psychology was basically bullshit. I didn't know that when I signed up. I thought I was signing up for a STEM field cuz I'd read a couple books with like a hardcore emphasis on neurology shortly before I chose it, and it just didn't end up being what I thought.
Living on this insane ball of dirt
>Schizophrenia is real
It's not.
>I don't need to prove
You do. The burden of proof is clearly on whoever is claiming an invisible illness, for which we have no evidence whatsoever, exists.
>sexual deviancy
Interacting with an unknown situation and becoming aroused but given that sexual response isn't socially regulated the same as other behaviors it remains unchecked.
> depression, schizophrenia
Either by chemical imbalance or conditioning.
A person can be conditioned to exhibit all the symptoms of a mental illness given the right conditioning.
I should have been more exact in my question. I was curious about what exactly happens in the psyche in response to trauma to cause disorder, and possibly how they can be reversed. The psyche contains mechanism that allow us to function day to day, though the specifics of these mechanism I don't understand. I don't think simply saying they are caused by trauma is enough to really understand disorders. How come some people go through trauma more or less the same if not stronger while others come out completely broken?
well ask why there was a war and why he was being beaten to begin with
Childhood trauma.
You are both just arguing semantics. The symptoms are real but you are arguing whether it is something that just randomly happens in the brain. Unless you really do think that people with schizophrenia are lying about seeing hallucinations.
All different moods would display different patterns. Show the brain of somebody a nut.
I just feel that explanation is too radical to be practical. Even if that is true it gives us no ability to solve mental illness. In fact, it gives us no ability to solve any of our problems.
>Unless you really do think that people with schizophrenia are lying about seeing hallucinations.
If you thought they were crazy why would you trust them?
well it does if you start asking the right questions and look at consciousness as a whole
mental illness is a symptom of a seriously ill reality. dont get caught up in details
So then a transexual would have had an interaction where he/she was emasculated/feminized and got arousal from it? This explanation makes the most sense because our first sexual experiences shape the context of all our other sexual experiences.
But you need to look at details if you want to actually think of solutions. Within your paradigm the only solution to our problems would be suicide.
And you can produce similar differences for musicians vs non-musicians, for people who like coca cola vs people who don't. Every observed personality difference between people is reflected in the brain because this is where our thoughts and behaviours originate.
Remember that "difference" doesn't indicate illness. Depression isn't really considered an illness because of brain differences, but because of a subjective social judgment, which you still have to make even after posting that image.
Obviously the "symptoms" are real, though that word implies the medical explanation of them. But I disagree that the argument is simple semantics. Is it semantics to say demonic possession isn't real? This is an alternative explanation for the behaviours being explained by supposed mental illness. The "demonic indicators" which exorcists use are real, but the demonic possession is not.
wrong the solution is collectively coming to together and realising we are facing an existential enemy that plagues our consciousness.. realising we together let it thrive as we ignore it through its illusions here in the matrix. its all a hologram.. the first step is piercing its source, knowing we are in it together.. not focusing on its devious, endless fractals
