I propose the following as an alternative: leaders are randomly selected based on a lottery. If a random farmer was given a crown for 2 years he would have no lobbyists or financial ties to guide his decisions. Only what he believed to be right.

Uses cool russian car (I like it) that breaks down every 40k km, hard to get certain parts for and drinks 12 liter per 100km on a good day, on a normal road at about 50km/h , while having 2 tiny gas tank in perspective (75l combined) is not very smart to use for true van life in my opinion.
It is a nice car when it is very cold outside and you live in a shit hole and have to drive about 30km on bad roads to just buy some groceries for example. But when you want to really "van life" for weeks you need something better with better fuel economy and comfort. It is nice for the weekend I guess and when you know you gonna drive on shitty roads and you know the car and know how to repair it.
