Because to them, everything they get feels natural because it's the only way they have ever known things to play out. They don't know that it's on a timer and that they should make the most out of it. Or, well, maybe that's already going too far into the other direction. But it would probably do them some good if they realized that things will not stay like that forever and their opportunities will not improve in the future.

Most women's problem is that they really only have one single interest, and that is social standing. Means they all compete on the exact same field and they have no way to cope. Some dude who is weak can tell himself he's at least smarter than the average and draw some confidence from that.
