Russiabros how are things there?
Personally - not so much, cause im national minority from eastern russia, still have a couple of contacts from Ukraine and watched conflict unfold for more than 20 years. From what i've understood of situation i can't blame ukraine for wanting to sit on western money and integrate itself with west, but i can't accept a lot of their methods.
Western russian people are connected to ukraine by generations and generations of families, so i think that they have much more skin in this game and have much more extreme positions on this situation.
>Do you think Ukraina flirting with Western powers should have warranted a different response from Kreml?
I'd say Kremlin should try to pull some kind of black op with assassinations of key figureheads and then push the narrative, but it seems like it wasn't on the table. Now what we see is textbook medieval suppression of uprising, Machiavelli style. I'm not well versed in international laws, but social contract of russian empire still is not dead in the russian minds, this probably answers both "y nato not help" and "y no coup?" questions from western warhawks.
