I know, unfortunately I have tinnitus for 12 years.
I wasn't using Q-tips though, I don't know the origin of my tinnitus. But I'm very vigilant now and I would advice anyone to be very cautious with their ears.

make sure you loosen the fibers a bit before use and it catches the wax rather than pushing it. I got a bebird ear cam and my ears are clean as fok.

Hydrogen peroxide is what I usually do. Works great and comfy asmr popping sounds. Also get one of those squeeze bulbs.

The wax is a lubricant.
Cleaning it out will dry the ear canal out which can lead to infections.
Just don't use cuetips to go in the ear. Use them with some water to clean the earshell when you notice the wax is building up.
