In white cultures, there was a line of competency. Below which, people just died or were forced to commit crime and were just killed.
Which was actually really good for the societies and populations as a whole.
In that scenario, it is fine to treat everyone as equal because everyone had an underlying and subconscious knowledge of everyone around them being somewhat competent at something.
