Why haven't I seen anyone address this fuck up

Ukrainians changed the English transliteration of Kiev to Kyiv back in 1995 and nobody took notice or gave a damn. In 2018 they started the #KyivNotKiev online campaign and nobody took notice or gave a damn. Then about a month ago the media started spelling Kiev the new way and pronouncing it the new way as well, supposedly to show support for Ukraine though I suspect it was mainly for the opportunistic bullying like most woke new speak.

The thing is... The Russian pronunciation of Kiev which they spell "Киeв" in the cyrillic alphabet is Keev. The Ukrainian pronunciation for Kyiv which they spell "Київ" in the Cyrillic alphabet is Kree-yev.

So did the English speaking media just fuck this up and accidentally start pronouncing Kiev the same way the Russians do while assuming they were pronouncing it the same way that Ukrainians do? Which they don't. What the fuck's going on here?

The crab people are behind this

What?

Go to Google translate .
Enter Kiev or Kyiv in the English window and translate it to both Ukrainian and Russian.
Use the pronunciation button to hear the city name in both Ukrainian and Russian.
The Russian pronunciation sounds like Keev.
The Ukrainian pronunciation sounds like Kree-yev.

No. Refer to

It's just virtual signalling. In the English language its Kiev. period.

Yes, I realize that, obviously. I'm asking who fucked up the virtue signaling? They're literally pronouncing it the way the Russians pronounce it instead of the way the Ukrainians pronounce it. We originally were pronouncing it with two syllables in the manner that's much more similar to the Ukrainian pronunciation. It's like we went out of our way to pronounce it the Russian way in a half-assed attempt to support Ukrainians.

its KIEV
deal with it glownigger

Bump

>The Russian pronunciation of Kiev which they spell "Киeв" in the cyrillic alphabet is Keev.
If true, that's pretty strange, because the "e" is normally a "yeh" sound. I'm looking at this "Киeв" and by my very basic level of Russian, that should be read as "key-yev".

It’s such a fucking non-issue
So what if they changed the name of their capital in their country
Germans call Germany “Deutschland” and I never see any pissy babies shitting their pants about that
This is not an uncommon phenomenon and I am 100% convinced that everybody getting mad about it are sheltered retards who think every place has the exact same name in ever language
Who
No wait actually I’m gonna put this caps for emphasis

WHO GIVES A SHIT

It's virtue signaling. Muh educated, muh experts. They've changed a street name in my city from "Lvovo" to "Lvivo". Didn't care enough until the "current thing".
A german here is called "vokietis". Should we change it to "germaneris"? Should english speaking countries refer to them as "deutchlanders"?

Well I'm basing all of this on Google translate. I'm using it on an Android phone and the Russian pronunciation is a single syllable Keev while the Ukrainian pronunciation is the two syllable Kree-yev

neither is "keev" they're both approximately kee-yev with various accent

Київ

And if bombs keep dropping, they'll have to change the name to 'Ruh Bull'.

If it's virtual signalling, is on purpose and not a fuckup. Rothschild's owns Reuters and Reuters owns the Associated Press. ....... who subscribes to those two? Every major media conglomerate in the entire western world.

What’s the new pronunciation for that word?
Kiev and why do they fucking think that they can come over here and fuck with our language.
Russia was right about the Ukrainians
