Hello. I am doing some prepping and need your advice. I'm poor so here is my budget: $600 for food and $400 for goods to barter. Also, what is the best shotgun ammo for the money? Are the minishells I've seen garbage?
I don't have much to start, just a shitton of flour, yeast, salt etc of baking bread. I do have six chickens/coop and a cheap-ass 12 guage.
I keep about a 4 week supply of food in the house for 5 of us, but a lot of that is fresh food. Thanks prep fags.

Depends on your location too. I live in big midwest city with 40% nigger population so I went heavy on the ammo, but do have 3 months of preboxed food, water and a camping stove.
I plan on situating in place in the event of a breakdown because I realistically can't see it lasting for more than that. Anything's possible but I think the collapse will be more gradual.
Also consider getting a solar panel system to run stuff should the electrical grid goes down. A 800w system should run you about $2,500 (self install). The priciest part of the solar panels are the batteries - they run about $250 per (get 100 or 200ah ones) and with an 800w you'll need a 3000w converter and about 8 batteries.
desu I wouldn't panic - just start picking up stuff a bit at a time. I've never heard of "minishells." but in a crunch and up close a shot gun of almost any gauge will do a nice job on your assailant.

Then find a grocery store that's having a sale on common canned foods. Get a good mix of soups and veggies. Personally, I like getting the chicken soups. I also have a couple of cans of canned chicken in water. Just in case you need the protein. Can't go wrong with a couple tubs of whey protein either.
Depending on your water sources, a couple cases of water would be good or a good filter. I'd also grab a couple candy bars for comfort or trading.
For trading, nothing wrong with several boxes of 22lr, batteries, tool kits from HF, and maybe some solar kits from HF.

Minishells are great, but they have half the shot as full size shells, so you'll get half the performance.
Also, they don't run well in most pumps. There's a small rubber adapter you can buy to make them run well in a Mossbergs, buy the original from the Vet, not the Chinese knock offs.
If a single shot is what you got, they'll work fine, one at a time. I've got some birdshot, buckshot and slug minis for fun.

does not feed in most shotguns reliably. and the new mossberg 500 S model??? double check this model type. Its designed specifically for feeding minishells. Only aguilla and federal? make minishells, theyre incredibly expensive for what they are.

Would recommend a glock model 17,19, 45, maybe a 26. And then a AR-9 that takes glock mags. Something that looks like a SIG MPX or MPK variants.

food supply, well if you already have chickens you may want to consider breeding rabbits as well. Ive heard quails are good because the meat its like 2X as dense as chicken. But ultimately growing a garden of Tomatoes and Potatos is one of the things you may want to consider.
