Here's how I see it: all pop singers are really just the front end of the industry to make money for the people that own the industry. The industry mainly seeks to profit off children (marketing to children and using children's stupidity to attract their parents' money) and young adults. Around pop singers, there are many people who want a slice of the wealth, including their own family members. Sometimes close family members are the ones who made all the decisions to brainwash their little child into wanting to be a "star" even though it was really the parent(s) who wanted it. (Money attracts parasites in general of course.) Britney was in the entertainment industry since early childhood, trying out for various things and eventually getting cast in The Mickey Mouse Club before puberty. She never had a normal childhood or a normal life. She was always on the track of being in the entertainment industry, from such a young age that it couldn't possibly have been her own decision. She was always a puppet and all pop stars are this. That includes the Wu-Tang Clan when they were signed to a major label. Because even Wu-Tang was the front to make profit to people who run the industry. I'm sure Britney thought she was in charge when she became a pop star, as I'm sure did the Wu-Tang Clan until they understood the industry and sought to game it more directly in their favor. Britney's success in the entertainment industry catered to her narcissistic and self-centered impulses already when she was still a child, hence developing a sense of entitlement many (but not all) child stars have. This the foundation on which the broken person was built. Not all of them become mentally ill to the same extent, but many of them struggle with substance abuse and non-psychotic psychological problems.
