Surfshark is the same VPN as NordVPN, AtlasVPN, ProtonVPN. Oxy Labs as well.
All of them are based out of Lithuania. Protonmail is not encrypted and shares everything with lithuanian police without an order.
Source: worked on NordVPN and on acquisition of AtlasVPN.
The 21st century has shown that information might be sharper than the sword. Recent events in Ukraine have thrown our world deeper into turmoil and confusion. As a result, we’re releasing a free feature on our browser extensions (Chrome and Firefox) to help anyone avoid false information on the internet.
What it is
"The Fake news warning (FNW) is a feature that detects and highlights website links from various media and other websites that are known to spread fake news and misinformation.
How it works
The feature detects specific URLs from a list of websites and highlights them with a YYY symbol.
Fake news warning feature - how it works
Example of FNW in action on pravda.ru
How to get it
To highlight these fake news sites all you need to do is download the Surfshark extension on Chrome and Firefox. You do not need an account or a Surfshark subscription to use this feature.
Once installed, the extension will activate FNW by default. If you’re a Surfshark user, you can toggle this feature on or off under the “VPN settings” in your extension.
Where the website information is from
The list of untrustworthy websites was taken from propornot.com and reviewed by our security experts. We are talking with security institutions worldwide to monitor and update this list, and iterations of it will roll out after the initial release."
Protonmail pozzed since the beginning. Any company that claims to be located in a 'neutral' state but is infected with americans will sell out. also free stuff means you are the product.
thats fucked
Isn't proton based out of swizerland?
I don't know where Protonmail servers are located but they are accessible from Tesonet/Nord Security offices in Vilnius, Lithuania and Lithuania is not some neutral country.
good man
all VPN's are Honeypots
just get a good ISP
>Protonmail is not encrypted and shares everything with lithuanian police without an order.
>Protonmail pozzed since the beginning. Any company that claims to be located in a 'neutral' state but is infected with americans will sell out. also free stuff means you are the product.
I'm gonna need QRD on this "its not encrypted" shit
afaik all access gained on the platform was done because they had a Gmail recovery account. and recovered access to the account through the Gmail recovery account.
wow what the fuck. they praise themselves with being located in switzerland which is 'neutral'. (not anymore as we see).
I guess their company is registered in switzerland, which is supposed to magically make it immune to police orders?
what else is located in lithuania? educate us user.
>all VPN's are Honeypots
this
>just get a good ISP
...?
How feasible is setting up your own hidden service on Tor then using that as an OpenVPN server?
keep using if you like, you have been warned. Feds mostly dont care as long as you are not into kiddie porn and dont go against the gouvernment.
substantiate your claims
>but I worked on it
I don't care, show me how they are based out of this place and how they are compromised
Only on paper. Same way Atlas VPN is based in Delaware, US or Surfshark is based in Panama.
Got a ISP that isnt shit, fellow leaf?
Redpill me on ExpressVPN.
no all are shit. my girl got an router 'upgrade' a year ago. guess what pihole doesnt work anymore because you cannot change the DNS in the router settings. that was with shaw.
ISP's get the same info any vpn does;
although rare, and ISP can deny all access to feds if they so choose.
there are local ISP's in select cities and its becoming more common.
Its easier if you live in the service of that ISP or VPN yourself through them yourself,
If you work there you can clear your own backend data and history however and whenever you please.
but this really is only available to a hanfull of people since small town isp's only hire half a dozen people or less.
>although rare, and ISP can deny all access to feds if they so choose.
No
they can.
the required data stored can be corrupted, altered and or removed. before full filling the police request.
>muh legal, muh law, muh crime
can and may are two different things.
What about Cambodian snuff films
No idea, I am not a hacker or even good at IT, my job was to shill affiliate program to influencers/youtubers.
They have very shitty structure/control of everything. If you really care about it, just come for a few months to Lithuania and get a job here. Employee turnover is very fast, in a few months you will know most of the shit that is going on. Also just googled now
techtypical.com
Apparently it's not even a secret anymore that AtlasVPN is NordVPN although when they bought it, it was very strict about not disclosing it to anyone.
Also when you contact support and say that something is not working, it's not just for you (for example Netflix), it's just not working and nobody is really "fixing it". The trick is to get you to wait over the refund period.
Yeah, Mullvad is the way to go.
Geph is weird and kinda interesting.
Lokinet perhaps if you want to experiment with some stuff.
TOR has been operated by the FBI since ~2007
then it's sabotage and the will get rekt
user, we're encroaching on a time where if any of your allotted static IP's have been found to have connected to the TOR network it will be deemed that you be locked away forever.
no you won't. there's mountains of legal precedent where nothing results from it. do you just fail to look at history?
surfshark a couple of months ago decided they wanted to be a full internet security suite instead of "just" a VPN
kikes trying to squeeze more money out of tech-illiterate morons that think viruses are waiting behind every popup
TOR was created by the feds for the feds
What do you mean 'only on paper'?
All documentation is 'only on paper'. Actual operation, audits and reports concerning it are given to us 'on paper'.
Why does your anecdote about turnover and shitty structure have nothing to back it up except your first post with nothing to back it up?
Not even a reasonable statement of activity, like a breach event?
Nord VPN has had two security compromising events. One was to do with a credential stuffing attack and faults not expressly affecting NordVPN servers, and the other was to do with a third party not Nord itself, the latter breach being the most controversial due to disclosure timing.
NordVPN operates out of the jurisdiction of Panama.
When or where are they handing details to the Lithuanian government when they don't have data retention, and they're not Five Eyes or Fourteen Eyes?
I don't care if I'm wrong, I want you to explain how buying a VPN in Five Eyes compromises the entire company, and how any of this is to be believed.
So with Surfsharks new update, even if your VPN isnt running, it will give you "fake news" notifications. The fuckers are monitoring people without them knowing.
