As shitty as that Soviet nuke design was most of Chernobyl deaths would have been prevented if they simply had iodine tablets to distribute.

I only know about iodine for radiation, but I think it could be a mix of this and fears over radiation in the areas surrounding nuclear reactors. If they were seriously scared about nuclear war, wouldn’t they send NBC suits and gas masks? They could use that same excuse, but just iodine tablets seems a little lackluster for full on nukes

That can help with radiation but it's also a necessary nutrient to prevent goiters etc. so it's a warning, but not only useful for radiation. It could be the Chernobyl plant was damaged or they fear it was or will be. Iodine prevents the absorption of radiation in thyroid gland to help block cancer for a while.

Good. Quality iodine is a good start to negate the radiation used to attack ukrainians. While I could personally feel neutral about the situation I feel as if an unknown factor is forcing the spill over of nukes and other belligerent factors to cause such medicinal assistance to be done without an actual negation of such a thing.

My neighbour bought 2 cases of water bottles this week whereas they usually only buy 1. What do they know that I don't know? Is there a drought coming?
