Such is life on unmoderated anonymous imageboards. The propaganda spam is real from both sides, for obvious reasons. As observers we can just wait for events to unfold and looking at isolated events is counterproductive in that context.
Constructive discussion is basically impossible on /k/ (not that that is something unique to this conflict), so we will literally just have by to wait. Or look for discussion somewhere else. What is interesting to observe though is the communication strategies of both sides and their respective info ops departments. This place had way better discussion in the past, true. But both sides have zero reason to let an open forum deduce with reasonable precision what is going on. Because that would undermine their general communication strategy and even help the enemy see through the fog of war.
You assessment is correct, /k/ has devolved into a total info ops mess and banter, which will do long term damage to the quality of discussion as it is crowding out genuine observers with literal keyboard monkeys.
Look at UKR side info strategy for instance. There are basically three identifiable tactics that are obvious and some more subtle ones I do not want to address for brevity reasons.
For one the are trying to move the focus from overall long term development away to a flood of pictures of isolated events, supposedly depicting them winning. By creating overwhelming presence, they are trying to shape the image of the conflict. They are basically trying to create an image of strategic success.
Secondly any attempt at discussion of operational or strategic developments are met with a barrage of derogatory and suggestive imagery and accusations. They are trying to eliminate the observer position on the fence and turning it into a bipolar situation. You have to be on their side of the narrative or you are denounced as a russian shill.
Third part would be using a combination of image flood and unsubstantiated claims regarding russian operational planning and timeframes for mission success to depict the russian operation as total failure. It is a ridiculous amount of we are winning on all fronts spam, it looks like 1944 german newsreels.
The Russian side has been predominantly silent apart from the usual photoops with happy babushkas getting meal handouts and the likes. They seem to be more focused on the home front, because they know that resources put into international PR moves are wasted. Which is obvious, given they are the clear aggressor in this war.

You seem to underestimate the amount of resources being allocated into info ops since roughly 2014/15. a lot of countries have substantial operations going on that domain, because it is considered a pillar of overall war strategy.
