This is the moon from the southern US tonight

Wtf, what's going on with the moon's orbit? I've lived here for 50 years and I have never seen this before. Waving and waning have always been from right to left.

Waxing and waning, fuck you autocorrect

The moon is fucking weird. Sometimes you can see it almost all day and I'm just like
>So the other side of the earth just gets no moon tonight?
Can scifags explain this too?

Are you pondering orbs again, user?

new moon

american education doesn't teach axial tilt

I thought a new moon was just obscured by Earth's shadow though, like it's still there but just hidden by Shadow.

I don't care about axial tilt, I've lived in the same area for 50 years and I have never seen this bottom waxing thing despite sitting outside at night a few times a week year round

You've literally never cared about it or bothered to pay attention until now. Retrieve your prescriptions, grandpa

Any minute now the flattard shitposter will appear. The moment he does, report his ass. It's the only way.

Hey , I need that to power my great rune!

In most other cultures, the elders are respected and revered because they know the most, and can teach you a lot if you're not a fucking idiot know it all. Sorry if I only know things that matter instead of the latest nigger thug rap trash.

it's called a Wet Moon or Cheshire moon and typically appears around the equinoxes. you see it low in the sky when the moon is in a crescent phase in the early evenings in March, April, and May.

Even the fucking moon is broken now. What's next?

what is seasons

Dude
You old

I don't agree with FlatERFFtards but freedom of speech or be a dick sucking faggot.

Ahh, here I am! Hope I'm not too late!

Yep, old, rich, tech savvy, live on 20 acres in the country, and know what the moon has looked like *from my region* for half a century

And, oh yeah, the Earth is Flat.

if this thing is real it would explain all the behaviour in the last while as all efforts to keep people distracted from the signs in the sky and bizarre climatic changes in a extremely short window. to me everything has been a stage to bide time and prepare for the inevitable panic.

Here you go user:

>Why is the crescent Moon sometimes lit on the bottom?

>answer: A careful observer will certainly notice that over the period of months, the crescent of the Moon does indeed seem to go from being lit on the "bottom" of the Moon to being lit on the side of the Moon. So what is happening to make the Moon look different? It is all a result of the Moon's orbit around the Earth, and the Earth's orbit around the Sun. And exactly when you see the Moon in the shape of a 'U' (lit on the bottom) rather than a backward 'C' (lit on the side) depends on what latitude you are at. But the explanation is the same regardless of when you see it from your location.

>We see the Moon in the night sky because it is reflecting light from the Sun. The Moon does not generate any light of its own. So the lit part of the Moon always points toward the Sun. Now as you can see in the diagram, as the Earth travels aroound the Sun, the tilt of the Earth on its axis sometimes points the northern hemisphere toward the Sun and sometimes points the southern hemisphere toward the Sun. This is why we have seasons here on Earth. But this also changes the apparent path of the Moon across the night sky when you are on the Earth looking out at it. Sometimes it travels at an angle toward the horizon and sometimes it travels straight down toward the horizon. When the crescent Moon travels straight down toward the horizon, you will get the 'U' shaped Moon. Many describe this as when the 'horns' of the Moon point upward. This can happen once or twice a year, again depending on the latitude of your location.

The difference between my generation and yours is that in my generation, you don’t automatically get respect because of some immediate identifier (your age, social status, wealth, whatever). You boomers learned that anyone who inhabits some position in society (say, an elder) is automatically deserving of a level of praise associated to that role. We millennials learned that respect is earned. Sure you’re old, but until you prove your “wisdom,” I'm not going to assume you’re wise. Not until I hear some words of wisdom.

Play around with this stellarium-web.org/ until you understand why this is completely normal and expected.

>I thought a new moon was just obscured by Earth's shadow though, like it's still there but just hidden by Shadow.
The shadow is the earth user. The Earth is fully blocking the moon so the other side of the planet can't see it. One side is getting a full moon, the other side has no (new) moon.
