The west actually let them keep their nukes, and poured billions into the Russia economy to get its crumbling communication and infrastructure up, just massive investments, because the thinking was a wealthy Russia would be a peaceful one. Any Russian success is because of western capitalism, not Russian policy or society. Now all those western capitalist resources are gone. Oil? They don’t even have the spare parts or manufacturing if control systems go down .. from well pumps through to pipelines. Gazprom etc use Shell etc suppliers. No one will make the mistake of helping Russia again. The only solution is to isolate, punish, Russia. the poverty is so great they denuclearize.

It should have just been broken up into individual countries. The 'federation' is giant and a lot of areas don't even do especially well out of it regardless, this is one of the reasons Putin banned nationalism, because he knows balkanization is very possible.
Another general problem is the demoralization propaganda from Russia / China and co is effective and gaining ground, an example is you see more support for Russia from American flags on Any Forums than you do from Russian flags.
