Something has been rattling around my head lately. So for all the shit we like to give NATO, they have been surprisingly level-headed. Forget the sanctions, Europe still receives gas from Russia and the price hike is simple market forces and that sucks. More shockingly, they have raped every Russian Oligarch they can get their hands on and that is probably the most humanitarian thing NATO has done in the past 50 years. I believe the reasoning has to do with how bomb laden military jets would be perceived by the locals, there's also stingers everywhere apparently and any down aircraft is a major boost to morale.
