Is it normal for only getting this "far" 7 days into the invasion?

Yes. The only people saying it's too slow are zoomers who only know about war from call of duty

War is not like a drive from A to B, its a huge effort with tons of constantly changing variables, rules and even objectives are subject to change.

They have only captured a single major city haven't they? The rest is just fucking fields.

Yeah but they've surrounded a bunch.
The defenders will starve and get shelled to fuck before the Russians roll in.

What is the purpose of capturing a city? There are cities and positions that should not be taken said ancient gookman.

The biolabs have been destroyed, the rest is distraction and theater.

If you want to understand what NATO is capable of in a similar situation look at Operation Desert Storm videos.

Russia is performing as well as you could reasonably expect.

modern populations are a lot bigger than they used to be, fighting through larger developed areas takes a lot of time

It took Germany a month to take Poland and they had a 2-1 numerical superiority and suffered 17000 KIA

Russia has invaded a larger country with 10-1 disadvantage in numbers so if they can do it within a month that would be shocking.

cities are important for logistics. places to refuel and stage new attacks from and so on. they are very important. whole reason germany and napoleon lost to russia is because there is literally no cities or anything from like poland all the way to moscow. they would starve and freeze to death on the way

Yeah but Napoleon actually took Moscow when he invaded and he still got his ass kicked just the same

NO. Putin is an fucking snownigger retard, he should have bombed them for a couple of days leaving them without electricity, gas, water, food or internet. but no, he wanted to become the "liberator of ukraine"and now we are all going to die in nuclear fire

yeah imagine making all that walk only to find moscow on fire and nothing there

It's called the cauldron tactic. It's slow but deathly effective.

The last time that Russian forces fought their way into Kyiv was the autumn of 1943, when the Red Army crossed the Dnieper river and seized the city from Nazi Germany. On November 4th that year, German defences collapsed and Soviet tanks poured into the Ukrainian capital. Almost 80 years on, Russian armoured forces are back.

You forgot to mention it was 80 years ago, before effective airtransport of infantry and suplys. Before IFVs and mass numbers o tanks and SPGs.

Most german infantry were at best motorized, very few mechanized.

Things will get much much worse for the Russians when The Insurgency forms.

this 'puppet govt' could not be worth the sanctions.
this is how you know Moscow is not a rational actor.

in '39 you still had a lot of horses and plain marching. the war was more or less over after around 18 days when the polish goverment fleed. with modern tech i guess it would have taken them less then a week.
