They won't have the ability to do that. They've hardly contested ground outside of fortifying cities. Now Russia is expanding the front lines in the north, forcing the Ukrainians to respond in order to prevent further advancement on Kiev from the east. They're going to tie up all the Ukrainian forces then just slowly mop everything up.
