China recently did a major deal with Ukraine in regards to the belt and road project, this invasion has fucked that up so you can bet Xi is raging at Putin. Xi had no choice but to condemn Russia or else he looks like a brutal dictator like Putin and run the risk of a revolution.

I wonder if Xi can use this to take control of the entire Eurasian pipeline network. He must know Putin will need to be removed and replaced by someone who is more obedient to the international vision. If an oligarch with ties to China steps in to replace Putin then Gazprom will suddenly be under China’s influence. Just a theory from a lowly NEET.

I am watching what they do. China has made a huge deal with Ukraine and others in the region for their belt and road project a few months ago. This Russian invasion has fucked it all up. China still says 'words' of support for Russia but also says it wants negotiations for peace to begin, and that it's restricting Russian purchases at Chinese state banks.
