you need a proper infantry unit around for a tank to not get constantly fucked up like that

This or air power something Russia hasn't been using

They’re modern day battering Rams. Necessary but nobody wants to be the ones who has to push it. And likely the first ones will all be destroyed

>dabbed on by planes and drones
>dabbed on by helicopters
>dabbed on by dudes lugging man-portable agtm

I wouldn't want to be in one.

Tanks were obsolete 40 years ago, but the MIC is always cranking out gear to fight the last war, not the next one. Speed, stealth, and precision weapons are the current meta. Tanks are none of the above.

Yes

This.
They seem useful, on paper.
But in real life, they're basically useless.

>spend a ton of resources building a tank
>your opponent just cheese it with cheap AT spam
What’s the fucking point

Crappy ancient Russian tanks are useless. So are short Chinese tanks the Russians are also using.

Russia doesn't have air power.

Tanks are the SUV of the military world, every fucking asshole wanted one. Come to find out them basically do nothing. They are better options.

There are*

Russian tank doctrine is different than NATO

In NATO, tanks support infantry.

In RF, infantry support tanks

infantry unit carrying stingers too attack helicopters can fuck up infantry and armor without proper anti-air (shooting only planes down isn't enough)
unit comp isn't just a vidya meme

on twitter and reddit, they sure do. 99.9% of tanks sent into ukraine will never get blown up.

tanks had reliable active protection since the 00s. if anything theyre practically immune to antitank missiles.

Everything sucks. People die to bullets. Planes die to sams. Helicopters to stingers. Everything is obsolete.

yes

flying power armour troopers with anti-tank is the future

>Dies to both stingers and bullets
Not even released and obsolete.

In Russia tanks just spearhead 10 miles ahead of the infantry

The current meta if you want to produce ISIS, Taliban and other assymetrical warfare situations that are indefinite yea.

Tanks are necessary if you want to clean up entire countries for good.

i do think jet trooper squads will be a thing in the future. on flat terrain like ukraine these are mostly useless in the open but when assaulting cities they can be extremely powerful.
get your jet soldiers on land on tall buildings with machine guns and you can pin down the entire neighbourhood.
yes its what i wrote

literally Toyotas with .50BMGs are probably more effective against infantry

Yeah, that's what I said.

Tanks move up, establish positions. Infantry comes in for the clean up.

In USA, at least, it is the direct opposite theory.
Infantry pushes, establishes front lines, and then tanks support them.
