Nuclear winter is probably a meme, a nuclear exchange wouldn’t destroy humanity but it would make living in the nuclear exclusion zone(a) a real pain in the dick for a long time

not really. humanity will survive it, granted, not the best parts of it, but we'll survive it. there will be less fewer cities (good), less pollution, international travel will probably become a thing of the past.

Well, for me who live in the bumfuck of Goiás, not bad at all, I'm sure we would see no effects of "nuclear winter" whatsoever and most bombs wouldn't even reach here
