There's nothing wrong with it so why throw it away? I regularly eat canned foods that were best by 2018; the taste goes a bit flat but nothing else wrong with them. MREs if kept cool will easily last decades beyond their expiration or best by dates.

Mostly stuff like canned soup or pasta. Canned meat is good for a looooong time. I have been doomsday prepping since 2012 and I have like stuff stacked up pretty good. I try my best to work a can in here and there with meals; but I am surprised how well stuff from years ago holds up. Some vegetables lose color but taste alright (green beans/peas). Anyway if it was the apocalypse, or even just a war, you would eat it if it was what you had.
