I wonder about this sometimes. Most animals lack object permanence, but to humans this ability is trivial yet crucial to our understanding of reality. So what ridiculously obvious trait about understanding reality might humans lack?

I remember being confused when I was a kid because my parents said schizophrenics hear voices and I was just wondering if that wasn't how everyone thought.

My dreams are surreal. I've had dreams that spanned year where I got married in college graduated got a kid had a job and then died from a random heart attack just clutching my chest feeling my limbs go numb and my breathing slowly go out. It was surreal as I can remember places we went on dates, when we got married, birth of the daughter. And god damn.

Most people I talk to don't seem to have dreams

I literally make my own realistic or animated detailed worlds in my head, just to live out my isekai power fantasies and or just have a fun adventure. I believe this is actually called maladaptive daydreaming though.

an animated image can only be a memory you know, a simulated image is something that is not necesarly part of the real world, like imagining a new demon how hw looks what powers he has, how he moves etc

Another thing, is you can do simulation without deconstruction and visualization. Your mind fills in the blanks, similar to dreams. So you can imagine something, without even seeing the details.
