I think OP is correct. Even if he's not assassinated or something, what he has done to the Russian economy and the damage to Russia's international image cannot be tolerated by the Oligarchs.
They will force him to step down, perhaps even arrest him, so that his replacement can go the the west, hat-in-hand, and ask the jews for Russia's banking privileges back.
