The forces in the Iraq War had to prepare and launch wholly from Kuwait. Baghdad isn't anywhere near Kuwait. Troops started moving March 20 and it took three weeks to reach Baghdad. Troops arrived in April 3 and took Baghdad on April 9. Six days of fighting.
Russian troops launched troops from Belarus, which really isn't that far away from the staging point. And I don't think anyone really knows what's going on with the fighting.

Russia is #1 exporter of grain (food), #1 exporter of oil (energy) and has any critical resource within its borders, I have family in Russia - their electricity cost hasn't changed in 15 years, same with basic food and necesities.
