My question is: what is the point? If the purpose of schooling is what you learn, teaching nothing means that time spent in the education system is meaningless. If the diploma is all that matters, why waste 12 years teaching nothing - just hand over the diploma.

Which would benefit the students more: 12 years of what they learned in school but no diploma, or nothing remembered but they receive the diploma?
