The expiration date is some stupid international law so contractors get to resupply every 2 ears even during peaceful times

First date/line literally says "packaged on" while the second one is the expiration date. You can easily check this yourself if you don't believe it, just post the image on one of those image based translators and you should get the same results.

I've eaten MREs that were packaged during the Gulf war. They don't expire.

Why is this being shilled, crackers don't go bad, patté doesn't either as long as it's air tight, same goes for the drink mixes, sugar and salt. The vaccuum sealed and probably freeze dried dinner is also perfectly fine 10 years after the expiration date as long as it's still sealed.
