the dutch government is very sensitive about groningen and the fact that the field causes earthquakes is an issue. the rest of the neths (i.e. offshore) is extremely mature and depleted so there are hardly any hydrocarbons left to be exploited. the vast majority of dutch operators are looking to divest as it is non-core globally and more suitable for specialist decom players who want to come in and decommission the fields at a lower cost and make a profit. that being said gas storage is probably quite useful now but the summer/winter spread has basically evaporated at these prices
